Distribution of Student
Greencards
There
have been delays in the production of some student Greencards for the 2012
school year, the Commissioner of Transport, David Peters, said
today. People who have
applied for a student Greencard during December and early January for
travel on bus services other than Metro, and who have not received the
card yet, should receive them shortly,” Mr Peters
said. “In the
interim, the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources with the
support of school bus operators is working to ensure that affected
students travelling to and from school on fare paying bus services other
than Metro, will still be able to access the concession fare for free
travel (where eligible) or the discount student fare of
$1. “Students who
have not yet received their Greencard and who have an “old style” PVC pass
for free travel should present it to the driver on boarding the
bus.” Mr Peters said
that all fare paying students travelling on bus services, other than
Metro, Merseylink and Tassielink, should have applied to the Department
for their student Greencards for the beginning of the school
year. “If they have
received them they should present the card to the driver on boarding the
bus,” Mr Peters said. “Fare paying
students who have not yet received their student Greencard will still be
able to access the discount fare during this interim
period. “The
Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources apologises for any
inconvenience the delay may have caused.” Further
information about student Greencards can be found at www.transport.tas.gov.au
